In the Early 1900s William Scagel began making knives and his functional designs and outstanding craftsmanship became legendary among hunters and outdoorsmen. Many consider Bill Scagel the father of modern day hunting knives. For over 100 years knifemakers have paid homage to Bill Scagel by continuing to make knives based on his design.

Gil Hibben continues that tradition with his versions of the Scagel Hunters.
